Last year I worked on canadian singer Aaron Powell's latest music video California. Here are some exclusive behind the scenes!
It all started with a script I created from Aaron and his wife Melissa's ideas and memories.
I was also took inspiration in Melissa's photographs.
From these references, I designed the backgrounds and characters.
Before finalising these designs, I had created a colour script and some style frames using colour to set the mood of each scene.
I then animated the characters frame-by-frame and combined them with the other assets in After Effects. I learned a lot working with music because eveything needed to be timed right and the animation needed to flow with the song.
In the end, there was a lot of back and forth between me and Aaron and Melissa. Their feedback really helped me make the music video better. I love how it turned out!
