When making this illustration, I first planned for two friends to be meeting at the bus stop. Later in the process, I realised the image was much more interesting if we didn't know who the mouse was waving at. It captured our imagination much more.
Is it a human-sized mouse or is it mouse-sized world? Is she waving at a friend across the world or at a cute dog? Is she a mother waving off her son on the first day of school? I like to leave up to interpretation.
